Gingerbread baking 2015

Gingerbread baking is a traditional Norwegian pre-Christmas tradition. Join Study Bergen for a gingerbread baking event, and help create the world's largest gingerbread city.

Bergen's Gingerbread City is - by far - the largest in the world. This year they are celebrating their 25th birthday, and the goal is to make it even bigger and better than before. The buildings in the gingerbread city are baked by kindergardens, schools, families and groups from all over Bergen.

There is no fee for participating in this event. Study Bergen will provide the gingerbread dough, glue and decorations. All you need to bring is a smile and good construction skills.

Where and where
The event will be at St. Pauls childrens school on Saturday 7th November. There will be two times for baking and constructing, one from 11-15:30 and one from 14:30 -18:30. There will be about 10 stations, so you'll be around 6-8 people per station. You will need to make, bake and assemble the house on your own. When the houses are done, we will go together to give them to the Gingerbread town. This will be at about 18:45. By that time you must also have cleaned up your stations.

What to build
We encourage participants to bake a famous momument or building from their home county. Whatever you build, it is important that you plan your building in advance of the event, and draw it out on cardboard templates which you take with you to the event.

Places are limited
This is traditionally a popular event, and places a limited. If you want to participate please make sure you use the registration form:
